Opel Astra fitted in a new starter and will not start again?

Recently my car started to give me trouble, sometimes it would turn on sometimes it would not. So I checked and the starter was not turning over at all anymore, I replaced it how ever not u can hear the starter pop out and turn but its still not starting. Can this be a problem with the ignition switch as well? Thank You|||This can be one of three problems:-

1) You have fitted an incorrect starter motor, where it has a too small drive which is riding over the flywheel ring gear. - Unlikely

2) You have problems with the flywheel ring gear, where it has worn out or slipped - Unlikely

3) Your new starter motor is faulty, where the clutch mechanism is slipping allowing the drive to throw in but slips and will not turn the engine - Probable fault.|||Could be that the flywheel ring gear has slipped and is not being engaged by the starter|||Is it engaging with the ring on the fly wheel?
