How to connect my opel vectra to a computer?

Hi

i just want to know how to connect my car to a computer to read the log from the computer or what ever inside it. i know it can be connected but any details would be helpful. what connector and what program can i use. am a network admin so i have a good knowledge about computers. DONT tell me go to some computer shop and they will do it for u i already know that and already booked a time there but just interested in knowing how to do it. thanx in advance.|||You can buy things called scanners for about 拢30-拢1000 off ebay. You plug into your on board diagnostics connection and can then read your management log.

Most cars these days conform to OND-II standards.

If you have a manual for the car it should tell you where the connection is.

when I had an Omega it was somewhere in the drivers passenger footwell, just under the dash. sometimes it's a 16 pin plug, others it's a 5-6 pin plug.|||for cars maintenance issues there are special softwares included with manifacturers info related to each site, also you have to know about car engine computers to avoid doing any mistake for your car.
